What is required for SKUdrop to ship goods like liquids - eg hazardous and non hazardous plant fertilizer or paint etc?
Requirements for shipping liquids or fertilizer including hazardous and non hazardous products through SKUdrop?
To ship goods with liquids through SKUdrop — such as hazardous or non hazardous plant fertilizer etc — the following requirements must be met:
✅ 1. Pre-Approval by SKUdrop
- SKUdrop must review and approve the product before it’s shipped to our warehouse.
- Send the SDS and product details to the SKUdrop team for confirmation.
- Hazardous products cannot be shipped through SKUdrop under any circumstances.
✅ 2. Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
- A current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is mandatory.
- The SDS must include:
- Full chemical composition
- Hazard classification (if any)
- Handling and storage instructions
- Transport and regulatory information (especially Section 14)
✅ 3. Product Classification
- You must confirm whether the liquid is classified as a Dangerous Good (DG) under:
- IMDG Code (for sea freight)
- UN number, class, and proper shipping name
- If the product is not hazardous, a non-DG declaration may be needed.
✅ 4. Packaging Requirements
- Packaging must:
- Prevent leakage
- Be compatible with liquid contents
- Meet any UN certification requirements (for DG)
- Double-sealing or inner liners may be required
✅ 5. Labeling
- Cartons must be clearly labeled with:
- Product name
- Handling instructions (e.g. “Keep Upright” / “Do Not Stack”)
- Hazard or UN labels if applicable
✅ 6. Additional Documentation
- You must provide:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- SDS
- DG Declaration (if applicable)
⚠️ Please note:
- Some shipping methods (e.g., Express Air) may not accept liquids or DG.
- Additional prep fees or documentation handling charges may apply.
- Not all freight forwarders will accept DG cargo — we recommend checking early.
