My product is subject to the Lacey Act, am I required to submit a Lacey Act declaration (PPQ Form 505) for every shipment of my product?

What is required if your product requires the filing of the Lacey Act.

Yes, if your product is subject to the Lacey Act—typically applicable to items containing plant-based materials like wood, paper, bamboo, or certain plant fibers—you are required to submit a Lacey Act declaration (PPQ Form 505) for every shipment that enters the United States.

🔁 Do You Need to Provide It Every Time?

Yes. The Lacey Act declaration must be submitted:

  • For each shipment of regulated products
  • Regardless of whether the product or supplier has changed
  • Prior to or at the time of importation

📄 What You Should Provide:

  • Scientific name of the plant
  • Country of harvest
  • Quantity and measure
  • Product description

Failing to submit the form can result in delays, penalties, or seizure of your shipment by U.S. Customs or the USDA.
