# Oversize Carton

## Do I need to pay if my cartons are oversized?

**Avoiding UPS/FedEx Oversize and Overweight Fees**

UPS and FedEx have **strict size and weight limits** for shipments. If your cartons **exceed these limits**, you may be charged a **penalty fee of $22 per carton**.

### 📦 Size Limit

* The **maximum allowed size** is **266 cm**, calculated using the formula:

> (Width + Height) × 2 + Length

**Example (within limit):**
58 + 40 = 98 × 2 = 196 + 61 = **257 cm** ✅

**Example (with slight blowout):**
60 + 42 = 102 × 2 = 204 + 62.5 = **266.5 cm** ❌ (Over the limit)

> ⚠️ **Important Tip:**
> We **strongly recommend keeping your cartons below 260 cm** to allow for **carton blowout**, which naturally occurs once cartons are filled. Our laser scanners measure full cartons slightly larger than their flat-packed dimensions.

---
### ⚖️ Weight Limit

* The **maximum allowed weight** per carton is **22 kg**
* We recommend **limiting to 21 kg or less**, as different scales may produce slightly different results

---
### ✅ Best Practice

* **Reduce the number of units per carton** to stay within size and weight limits
* This not only **avoids the $22 penalty per carton**, but also helps ensure smoother shipping
* While it may result in **a few additional cartons** (and slightly higher prep fees), it's often **more cost-effective** than paying penalty fees on multiple oversized or overweight cartons
